Soccer was originally played in Rome and the first match of soccer was played by Romans. In India ,Kolkata is said to be the Mecca of Indian Football but the first match of soccer organized in India, was played at Bombay(Presently Mumbai) in the year of 1802,between Bombai Island and The Militaries . The soccer world cup was started in 1930 but the trophy given to the champions is not the present FIFA Cup but it was a gold fairy weighing 4kg and called as Jule Rime Trophy because it was gifted by Jule Rime. Pankaj Roy was the first test captain of the Indian cricket team whose mother tongue was Bengali Davis Cup is the tournament which decide the best lawn tennis team of the World(similar to World Cup of Cricket or Soccer) but it was named ‘Davis’ Cup after Davis,a student from Harvard University gifted a silver medal in August 1900 ! Next Year is an Olympic Year.Beijing is organizing the 2008 Olympics.So I start my first Sport Facts blog with some facts about Olympics : 1.Athens Olympic, the first in the modern times, was organized from 6th April 1895 to 15th April 1895 2.The second Olympics(Modern) was organized in Paris from 11th February to 19th February 1900. 3. The third Olympics(Modern) was organized in St,Lois from 3rd February to 15th February 1904. 4. The fourth Olympics(Modern) was organized in London from 27th April to 31st April 1908. 5. The fifth Olympics(Modern) was organized in Stockholm from 5th May to 22nd July 1912. 6.28 Olympic games are played in the modern times.Beijing will organise the 29th edition in 2008 . 7.The IOC or the International Olympic Committe decide which city will be the host of the Olympic Games .
